Playing catch up

“He could not find the words to say goodbye. He faltered. He had wounded her, speaking from the pain of his spirit. He had sworn that he would not hurt her but he had. He would have told her – he would have said, it matters not if you are here, or there, for I see you before me every moment. I see you in the light on the water, in the swaying of the young trees in the spring wind. I see you in the shadows of the great oaks, I hear your voice in the cry of the owl at night. You are the blood in my veins, and the beating of my heart. You are my first waking thought, and my last sigh before sleeping. You are – you are bone of my bone and breath of my breath.” ~ Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier

Its been 2 weeks since I started work.
My first day of work was rather slow but day 2 onwards has been a flurry of activity.
It’s been an interesting experience to say the least. Colleagues are fun and the stories to be told will not expire at all. The children running all over the place are a joy to play with and most of them are rather adorable, until they start screaming bloody murder - that’s when they do not get what they want.
Once the screaming/crying starts, it would be best to take out the ear plugs, push em’ right into your ears and pray for the kids to run out of breath. Trust me; some of them kiddos would make good sirens for the SCDF. In my time here, I have encountered various method of teaching and hopefully picked up the better methods. At the same time, I have managed to absorb quite a few other tricks of the trade. What trade? That would be something left for another blog entry.

On to other things.
Lunar New Year celebrations ended not long ago – last Thursday – i.e. Chinese Valentines’ Day. Yes, the English version of the occasion for lovers also passed us by in a ribbon of colours all aimed at making people spend money as if they grew on trees. People are caught in the whole whirl of trying to show how much they care about the other party and make sure that the day is a memorable one. It is a bit sad to see all that money fly away correct? Hehaha~
My Valentines’ was nice and quiet. =]

Visitations for this year’s CNY was stretched out and fun.
Went to visit my instructor and my students, not forgetting my relatives. It’s nice to bring the oranges around and give people blessings. Good to spend time with my students in getting to know them better and having fun with them at the same time. Not that I don’t have fun with them on a weekly basis, but this kind of activity is outside the training ground and the rules change somewhat.
Visited Hong Yeol’s house as well and helped with the cooking for some of his friends. I learned how to cook some Korean dishes and in the process, found that I do not require domestication!
-falls on the floor laughing-

Tution classes resumed on the 3rd day of CNY and there was nothing I or any of the students, much less the teachers could do about the matter. Some of the parents did put their feet down and make sure their kids enjoyed the weekend – they did not turn up at all... Wahahahaah~

I’ve been running around so much that the moment my head hits the pillow, my eyes do not open until my phone starts playing that cello. No matter how much I try, I always end up sleeping late and trying to make up for the lost time the very next day.. I think I might even have to roster time for sleeping in the future... hahah~

Friday before last, Parveen and I went back to SRJC for the Just A Kiss literature concert. The place has changed so much, I had a shock when I walking into the school. THE CONTAINER BLOCK IS NOT THERE ANYMORE!!!!
I think a trip in the day time will confirm the other changes I noticed that night I was there.
Caught up with some of the teachers, Mr Teng is now married and he owes me an ang pow! ;p
I miss my sugar babe. It’s irritating how long it’s been since the last time we met up to chill out...
Hey Parv! March holidays we meeting up? =]

Last Wednesday’s training was brutal. I felt it’s effects for 4 days. We did squat kicks and other fun kiddy-ish physical training activities. The students all see it as fun, and they end up doing everything in a hurried manner. We who understand the reasoning behind the movements, do everything slowly and painfully and in the end losing in the ‘race’. Haha… the youngsters laugh at us, but we know who will be laughing in the end… after all the painful healing has been done anyway~

Friday dinner was spent with Yang Mui, Shi Min and Diana.
We went to Ichiban Boshi at Hougang Mall to eat our fill before heading around the mall to do some catching up.. Am realy looking forward to the next gathering – Diana’s birthday!!!
-bounces all over the place-

Oh, I bought a new watch.
It’s a good buy along with all the other clothes I’ve been getting my hands on… it seems that every time I go out, I end up buying clothes… had better go clear the cupboard and make sure there is enough space for more wardrobe items!
-evil laughter-

Saturday – tuition, visitation from Grandmother + Uncle, TKD demo at Bishan – before that having dinner with Charmaine, Job and `Daryl.
Did I mention that those 3 came over to my place?
They, along with Umera, Huifen and Alvin came to my place for visiting. It was a bouncing session of going from house to house, spending about 3 hours in each venue. Hehe..

Today went to Pasir Ris Park with the kiddos and watched Jumper with Jared and Alvin.
Might invest in the Dvd when it comes out. Plenty of other shows on my list to catch! =]

Singing the Doxology now.

Signing off~
Read more next month ;)
